Gift number five was another surprise gift. Nothing was planned, nothing was purchased. I’m enjoying just keeping my eyes and ears open throughout the course of a day to see if a gift giving opportunity presents itself. It happens more times than you’d think. This was more a gift of time and energy than a gift that you open up.
Most Saturday mornings I load the family in the car, and we head to the local Gym. Laura and I love this time together. When we were dating we worked out together often, and this is a special way of unwinding on our weekends. Our newest gym has phenomenal day care, and even Talia enjoys her time every Saturday morning. That’s not to say that it isn’t an crazy scene just getting to the gym. As we rolled into the gym Saturday I had a diaper bag, my gym bag, and Laura’s gym bag slung around my body. Of course she had Talia.
I’d dropped Laura and the baby off first because it was too cold to walk through the parking lot. I parked the car, got into the gym, and Laura looks at me and says: “can I borrow the keys I have to get my head band out of the car for working out”. She had no idea where in the car it was; this was an issue, because if you have kids you know how crazy cars can get with the little ones. I took a breath, saw this as another gift giving opportunity turned around and went back out to the car to dig around for her head band. Unbelievably I found it in short order. When I got back to the gym, a very happy, grateful wife was waiting for me. A wonderful weekend was off to a great start. I’m really starting to enjoy these little gifts….
