The 64 day Challenge: Gift #26 Given on January 30th

by Chris Dessi on January 31, 2010

This gift was a gem.  Laura and I work out at a great place call “The Gym” in Armonk.  My wife and I often speak about a great kid that works there named David.  He’s always got a smile on his face, and is always helpful.  Just an all around good kid.  Saturday morning while working out I decided that my gift would be a brief chat the manager at the gym to tell him just how much we admire and respect this young man.  As I was waiting for the manager to come to the front desk David came over to say hello (great timing). We chatted about how he’s a student at UConn, works at the gym, AND works three days a week in the city at an Accounting firm.  Now, I was feeling even better about this gift.  He’s a good kid, AND he hustles!  The manager came over, shook my hand and asked what he could do.  You could tell that he was waiting for me to complain about something.  I smiled a huge smile and gesture to David saying  “well, I just wanted to tell you how amazing David has been to myself and my family”.  ” he always goes the extra mile, and I just wanted to make sure you know what a great job he’s doing”….David, was now totally embarrassed (awesome) and the manager was beaming.  I have to tell you – this gift is my favorite so far.  Good kids like this need more recognition of a job well done.  Thank you David!
