Each day after I work out I buy lunch from the “juice bar” at Equinox in the Time Warner Center. Last week I reached into my wallet to pay for my sandwich and stuck in between two bills I accidentally handed the cashier a very large check that had been issued to me via my student loan organization (I’d just completed paying off my student loans, and received a refund from my final “automated payment”).
The gentlemen behind the counter could have taken the check. He didn’t know who it was made out to, or the amount, because he didn’t even look – he immediately noticed it and handed it back to me. I thanked him, and headed back to work. Today I decided to thank him for his kind gesture, so I mentioned the incident, thanked him, and gave him a $10 tip into the tip jar. Of course he protested. I insisted. Cool.
