Dialogue on Social Media

Social Media

Really, what IS Social Media?

Wikipedia defines Social Media as the following:

Social media are media designed to be disseminated through social interaction, created using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques.

Social media isn’t a choice. Whether you like it or not, Social Media is happening to your business.  Right now, somewhere someone is Tweeting about the crappy service they just  received, updating their Facebook status about the phenomenal new product they bought (telling all 700 of their friends with one click). Someone is listening to an unsigned band via a media player on myspace.com – for free.  They’re downloading content for free on bittorrent, finding a job on linkedin.com, using an iphone application to figure out the optimal time for a bathroom break in the theatre where they’re watching a movie that was panned by critics, but was a trending topic on Twitter the day before. PHEW.

So what do businesses say to themselves to help them bury their heads in the sand?

” I don’t have time for Social Media”

Please let me be crystal clear  - If you have time to care about your business, you have time for social media.   Get started today.  I promise you, it will change your business forever.
