Today’s gift; or the resulting story while attempting to give the gift is an “only in New York” type of scenario.  I think it’s fascinating how if you just keep your eyes and ears open you will find opportunities to give gifts all day long.  As I was walking through the subway I noticed a young mother carrying her baby in the carriage up the steps.  She was about 5 steps in front of me.  By the time I got to the top of the steps she was on her way down another set of steps going toward the shuttle: Exactly where I was going.  I saw her pause, squat and brace to pick up her baby.  I went to her and said “may I help”…she barely looked up “nope, I got it”….she struggled a bit…I smiled “are you sure?”…now she’s kind of annoyed…” I GOT IT”…she bounds down the steps with her baby…HA!  Only in New York.  Even the Moms are as tough as nails.  Love it.
