The 64 day Challenge: Gift #45 Given on February 18th

Today’s gift is very special.  After everything that our family experienced regarding my father’s misdiagnosis with ALS we were a bit ill prepared for his heart surgery which came only weeks afterward.  Dad’s surgery went very well, however it was certainly a reality check for the whole family.  We were blessed to have world class Doctors and Nurses care for Dad at the Westchester Medical Center.  We were even further blessed to actually have had someone on the “inside”…Colleen Carey is a dear family friend who is also a nurse at Westchester Medical Center and happens to work in the same unit where my father recovered. Colleen helped my family through this ordeal. She took extra special care of my Dad,  kept us informed and made us feel at ease like no other person could have.  For that, we’re all forever grateful.  Colleen spent extra time with my Dad, and called regularly to gives us all updates.  She went above and beyond, and I love her for that.  Today we purchased a small token of our appreciation – a $75 gift certificate to pamper herself at Nails Noble in Mahopac. Both Colleen and her husband Mark are civil servants (Mark’s a County Police Officer) and they’re just amazing people.  They have three phenomenal children, and pampering herself like this is something that Colleen would never spend her money on – I hope she makes the time for herself, and knows how grateful we all are….Thank you Colleen, we LOVE YOU!!!!!
